Outlook 2007 Voice Access, when are added features too much?

Posted on 10:22 AM by Unknown
From Paul Thurrots newsletter...
"There's so much more, but Exchange 2007 is a major update, so that's to be expected. Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA) have been augmented by new portable phone/PDA capabilities as well as Outlook Voice Access (OVA), a way to navigate Exchange features via a call-in service and voice recognition; you can literally call Exchange when you're late for a meeting, tell it you're late, and it will update your schedule--and shared calendars."

So here is how the conversation would go right?.. Hello, Exchange server.. Uh yeah, this is JKENZIG, I'm, uh stuck in traffic can you, ...use a turn signal Jerk!, ..please let my team know that... darn, spilled my coffee...I'm going to be late for my scheduled meeting at 2:30 pm on..what day was it again?? Oh yeah Wednesday June 14th 2006. CRASH. Never mind.

Interesting read: Microsoft Malware report from Malicious Software removal tool

Posted on 9:22 AM by Unknown
Microsoft has released an interesting report on some results from their Malicious Software Removal tool. There are some pretty shocking results of the amount of virii this thing has cleaned. For example 4.4 million removals of Win32/Rbot, another interesting statistic..the tool cleaned one computer that had over 251 variants of malware. I can only imagine what that person was doing on the web. : )

Article about it here:

Download Pick: Single Sign On RDP Client

Posted on 10:23 AM by Unknown
This weeks download pick is WBISoft Single Sign on RDP client.

http://wbisoft.com/index.php?id=60

Single sign on or Passthru authentication, whatever you call it, our latest download will hopefully help some of you by letting you connect to your remote servers (either console or normal RDP session) without entering credentials again in the remote session.

By caching the user cred's you enter on your PC at logon time the XPTS Single SignOn client will enable you to logon to your remote servers quickly.
Not only does this client support Single SignOn but also allow you to tunnel RDP via an HTTP proxy server (Note, does NOT support SSL, you need the full XPTS server install and full client for this and all other enhanced features) and the size of the desktop is scalable so you can shrink the window to a size that suits your desktop, organise the windows on the screen the way and size you want then the next time you open them, that's where they will be and at the size you set.

All of the usual support is in there for Disk, Printer, Port and Clipboard mapping so what are you waiting for check out the Free Stuff download page here

2 stories of interest Google Sync and .Net 3.0

Posted on 12:22 PM by Unknown
Google released browser sync plugin for Firefox to sync your cookies, favorites and other browser settings across any session or machine.
This is an important first step in the app access from anywhere.
http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/index.html

See my previous blog post on WinFX and why I think this is the new frontier..

Microsoft has renamed the Winfx framework to .Net 3.0. I think this is good move for them and makes a lot of sense.

Download Pick ADmodify.net

Posted on 10:54 AM by Unknown
Damn this is cool! OK folks this is DEFINITELY a download pick of the week. Two snaps go to Dave Stevens for pointing out this Dotnet utility called ADModify. I wanted a way to add a new email domain in exchange 2003 for all users and make it the primary email address and also
keep the old domain active. I found my solution here:

http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF010.html

Basically Exchange 2003 has added something called Recipient Policies making something that used to be really difficult a snap. I also got pointed to the ADModify tool which also performs the same function and then some!

The ADModify tool will let you add/ modify /remove objects in bulk form within Active directory.

In other words any user properties in Active directory can easily be changed globally with it. I just used it to remove an old smtp address from over 1000 ad users accounts. Worked like a champ!

Must have .net on the machine.
See:

Actual download is here

Which I knew about this a year ago when we did our migration!!
